The livestock judging team is a group of youth who study and learn to evaluate livestock, primarily, pigs, goats, sheep, and cattle. At competitions, the youth evaluate and place a group of classes, then give oral reasons for their placing’s from a select few of the evaluated classes. Each class consists of four animals from the same species.
Youth do NOT have to own animals or have any prior knowledge to join the team. Youth are expected to study each species and learn the desirable traits for each, so that they can be competitive at event. Team meetings are designed to help each youth learn the needed knowledge and show them tools that will help them be successful. There are numerous competitions throughout the state of Florida, the southeast region, and the nation which youth can qualify to attend.
