RED TIDE

The red tide persist off the coast of SW Florida though no fish kills were reported this week.

There were background concentrations of Karenia brevis detected off of Okaloosa County.

 

FISH KILLS for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties

19 dead red fish were reported from the Yellow River Basin this week in Santa Rosa County – probable cause was disease.

WATER TEMPERATURES

Inland waters are recording temps in the high 70’s – the Gulf is reporting mid 70’s.

 

SALINITY

Salinities continue to be abnormally low

 

DISSOLVED OXYGEN

All DO values look good

 

NUTRIENTS

Frequency of occurrence – 100% – 9 heads – 1 track (they have begun nesting)

Big Sabine

Frequency of occurrence – 0% – no sign (1 trip)

Indiana Street Marsh – Navarre Beach

Frequency – 0% – no sign (1 trip)

 

OTHER

We are still looking for horseshoe crabs and goliath grouper – please let us know when and where you see these in our area

Scallop Surveys will begin later this summer
