Green Cedars Farm is located in Escambia County northwest of Molino, FL.  We produce naturally grown, nutritionally superior pastured poultry, eggs and lamb and some select fruits and vegetables.  We provide farm tours for customers, school and church groups, and adult tours.  We also rent out facilities for parties and special events.
Our pastured poultry naturally fertilize our pastures on which the sheep and lambs graze.  This eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers and improves the health of our pastures as well as significantly reducing the amount of nutrient runoff.  Lab results of poultry and eggs produced in this manner show huge increases in nutrients over the USDA standard, particularly in heart-friendly Omega-3 fatty acids.  Our egg layers are of a variety of breeds that lay eggs in brown, white, green, blue, and very dark brown.  The dark brown layers are of a heritage breed called Cuckoo Maran
.
Our sheep are White Dorpers, a hair sheep breed that sheds its fleece each year and therefore does not require shearing.  White Dorpers are grown for their meat and are well-adapted to Florida.  Our lambing season is Feb 15 - March 30 with the majority born in the first three weeks of the season.
In 2009, we began the establishment of an orchard featuring a local variety of apple tree called "Shell" that was grown commercially in the Brewton, AL area around 1900.  We also have plantings of non-astringent persimmons, and thornless blackberries.
We control predators of our poultry with guard donkeys, livestock guardian dogs and "night-guard" lights.
