The Forest also offers hiking on the Florida Trail and canoeing on its shallow creeks. Don’t miss the pitcher plant bogs that bloom in April and May. The Arcadia Mill Site in Milton represents Florida’s first and largest Early American water-powered industrial complex. During it’s 38-year operation (1817 to 1855) the various mills, shops, mule-drawn railroad and sixteen-mile log flume played a pivotal role in the political and economic development of northwest Florida. Today the archeological site offers a museum and a boardwalk trail that overlooks Pond Creek.
