Welcome to the Small Farms/Livestock program of the Escambia County Extension Service. The program aims to help producers, as well as backyard enthusiasts, in developing diverse agriculture enterprises throughout the county. We work with livestock, fruit and vegetable crops, timber, and aquaculture producers, as well as agritourism businesses, on production practices, marketing, business plans, and developing successful small farms.
The University of Florida’s Small Farms team is made of up of agents, specialists, and researchers from across the state that work on a variety of cropping systems, production plans, marketing, business development skills, and identifying issues critical to the success of small operations. Our focus team aims to increase the number and production of what makes up 90% of the farms in our state. The team has been successful in spearheading the annual Small Farms Conference, along with programs that they take on the road to communities around the state.
